St. Johns County Parks Foundation Welcomes New Board Members, Launches $200K Turf Replacement Campaign for Field of Dreams
St. Johns County, FL – The St. Johns County Parks Foundation proudly announces the appointment of three new board members whose leadership and expertise will help advance the Foundation’s mission to expand access to St. Johns County Parks and Recreation facilities, programs, and services for all residents.
Robert Brown, News Director at News4JAX, is a respected media professional with deep roots in Northeast Florida and a strong record of civic engagement. Henry Dean, a longtime water conservation advocate and former County Commissioner, is widely recognized for his environmental stewardship. Travis Ramsey, Executive Director of Retail Banking at JPMorgan Chase & Co., brings strategic financial insight and a passion for recreation and youth sports.
Their appointments coincide with the recent groundbreaking at Aberdeen Park, where the disability-friendly baseball field is set to receive $1.5 million in upgrades. In partnership with the St. Johns County Parks and Recreation Department, the Foundation has committed to raising $200,000 to replace and expand the Field of Dreams turf.
“This project reflects our mission,” said Marithza Ross, Executive Director of the St. Johns County Parks Foundation. “With the County making major upgrades to the park, it’s the perfect time for the Foundation to rally the community and replace the aging turf. This fresh start will support a growing program and ensure our special needs community continues to have a safe, high-quality place to play.”
The baseball field is home to the Field of Dreams (FOD) Baseball League, a volunteer-run organization that provides a safe, ADA-compliant facility where children of all ages with physical or developmental disabilities can enjoy the game of baseball.
