At St. Johns Golf Club, excellence isn’t just about pristine fairways or well-manicured greens—it’s about the people who make this course stand out in St. Johns County and beyond. This year, Assistant Golf Pro Bea Mauricio has been recognized at the highest level for her leadership and dedication to the game of golf.

Bea was named Assistant Professional of the Year, not only for the Northern Chapter of the North Florida PGA but also for the entire North Florida Section—an area that includes more than 2,000 PGA professionals.

“It shows her leadership, her dedication to the game, and her focus on progressing to the future and her education,” said Wes Tucker, Director at St. Johns Golf Club.

For her coworkers and club members, Bea’s recognition comes as no surprise.

“Sometimes a golf course can feel a little stagnant,” said one coworker. “But Bea brings a light to everything. She helps us think outside the box with her fresh perspective and experience from other courses.”

Another teammate described her as “a breath of fresh air,” adding, “She makes learning golf exciting and doable for everyone.”

It’s that same encouragement and positivity that members feel every time they come to play. One customer reflected on her influence, saying, “She’s a very positive presence. However I played, I knew Bea would help me out with kindness and patience.”

For Bea, her work at St. Johns Golf Club is about more than the sport itself.

“What I do is what I love, and that’s what I want the community and the people here to feel,” she shared.

Her teammates see how that mindset has raised the bar for everyone. “Anytime you have somebody around who’s raising the level, everybody else goes with it,” said a coworker. “She’s hardworking, talented, and just one of the best people you can work with.”

Perhaps what makes Bea’s achievement even more meaningful is her deep connection to St. Johns Golf Club. “Bea could take another job easily,” said Wes Tucker, “but she stood up in front of the whole audience and said she doesn’t want to—this is her home. That makes me proud of her.”

Looking back on the award, Bea admits the recognition was both humbling and motivating.

“This one gave me a little push to say, okay… this is huge. It’s very, very cool and special.”

At St. Johns Golf Club, excellence isn’t the exception—it’s the expectation.
