Hey Pawty People! The St. Johns County Parks and Recreation Department kicked off this awesome contest for our four-legged friends, and we’re thrilled to see it grow with so many pet parents joining in the spooky spirit!

This annual Howl-O-Ween Pet Costume Contest showcases the creativity of local pet owners. The fun tradition began during COVID, inspired by Parks and Rec Assistant Director Jamie Bacari and Programs Manager Tess Simpson, who sought ways to keep the community connected, even from a distance.
The contest has seen growing participation each year, with last year's introduction of custom trophies adding excitement and recognition for the winners. This year, the department is eager to see even more diverse entries, including pets of all kinds.
From now until Sunday, October 27th, participants can submit photos of their pets dressed in costumes in the comments section of the official contest post on Facebook. Whether photographed solo or with family members, each furry participant must be in costume to join the fun.

Voting will take place from October 28th to October 30th, with the top three winners announced on Halloween Day, October 31st. Winners must be able to pick up their prizes in person at the SJC Parks and Recreation Administration by December 1st.
