The 2024 NRPA Engagement with Parks Report highlights the vital role that local parks and recreation services play in fostering healthy, vibrant communities. These public spaces offer more than just a place to relax—they provide opportunities for exercise, learning, socializing, and personal growth. Parks and recreation areas offer safe, accessible environments where people of all ages, backgrounds, and abilities can come together.

Thriving Through Teamwork

The report also emphasizes the dedication of 160,000 full-time professionals and countless volunteers who ensure these spaces remain accessible and well-maintained. With more than 10,000 local park agencies nationwide, the impact of parks extends far beyond just physical space.

As the data shows, Americans place a high value on the services provided by park and recreation agencies. These spaces not only support health and wellness, but also contribute to social cohesion, economic vitality, and environmental sustainability.

Thank you to the parks and recreation enthusiasts and the dedicated staff who make these spaces truly cherished resources for our St. Johns County communities.
