St. Augustine, FL — On Tuesday, October 15 the St. Johns County Board
of County Commissioners voted unanimously in favor of continuing
financial support for the St. Johns County Parks Foundation, INC., ensuring
the allocation of $120,000 as part of the FY25 budget. The funding, in
collaboration with the Parks and Recreation Department, will support
continued successes, such as the relocation of the historic Canright House
and the acquisition of the Greenbrier land, which was donated to the county
for future recreational use through the Foundation’s efforts.
The newly appointed Executive Director, Marithza Ross, proudly presented
the request to the commissioners, marking her first appearance in this role.
Ross shared her vision for enhancing the Foundation’s purpose, which
focuses on providing support, advocating for conservation, and improving
the county’s recreational programs and facilities to better serve the
community.
”We are thankful for the support of the Board of County Commissioners. Our goal with this funding is to begin creating sustainable initiatives that promote the long-term growth of the Parks Foundation and, in turn, advance our efforts to provide more opportunities for residents and visitors to enjoy our parks,” said Ross.
The St. Johns County Parks Foundation has been working in partnership
with the county since FY22 to support key initiatives aimed at improving
local parks and recreational spaces. The Foundation is committed to
making these spaces accessible and enjoyable for all.
