The brand-new turf field at the Solomon Calhoun Community Center is more than just a place to play — it’s a lasting investment in the heart of West Augustine.
This project was made possible through the leadership and support of the St. Johns County Board of County Commissioners, the St. Johns County Parks and Recreation Department, and several other County departments that worked together to make it happen. Their teamwork turned a shared vision into a community asset that will benefit youth, families, and recreation programs for years to come.
The Solomon Calhoun Community Center, managed by St. Johns County Parks and Recreation, sits within the West Augustine Community Redevelopment Area (CRA) — a district dedicated to improving infrastructure, safety, and access to opportunity. With this new field, the County continues to build on that mission, providing all residents with a high-quality public space to play, gather, and grow together.
For the St. Johns County Parks Foundation, this celebration reflects exactly why we support our County’s Parks and Recreation Department. Their leadership, collaboration, and commitment to accessibility continue to positively impact our community.
Congratulations to everyone involved in making this new field a reality.
